Beginning To See The Light: Lou Reed's New Machine Meditations
Here's three genuine Souljerkified reasons to get current with Lou Reed's latest, right where you're sitting now—
• Hudson River Wind Meditations, an ambient "meditation record" due out on Sounds True this April. Listen to an excerpt here, it's totally cool.
• A novel interpretation of Lou Reed's legendary "ambient" (noise) record, Metal Machine Music, has been reconstructed by Zeitkratzer Orchestra. The piece features Lou Reed live (in Germany) and the Berlin Philharmonic. It too is slated for released in April '07, this time on Asphodel Records. Lester Bangs heralded the original as "the greatest record ever made in the history of the human eardrum."
• The former Velvet Underground front-man has also recently narrated and soundtracked a Tai Chi DVD: Chen Taijiquan. It features his Tai Chi guru, Master Ren Guang Yi, demonstrating forms in Central Park. Viewers may select from two scores sculpted by Reed and choose multiple angles on the movements of the master.
Some of these details are available on Lou Reed's website.
