Hanuman: Keaunu Reeves as Lord Rama, Shilpa Shetty as Sita
Producer Uru Patel's forthcoming film project Hanuman really ups the ante on the East Meets West, global Indiaspora tip, creating quite a stir in Indian Bollywood rumour circles. Veiled in secrecy, the project leaks are pretty alluring.
Patel has decided to completely revamp the Ramayana in modern times, with the city of Lanka rendered as a bar in downtown Manhattan. (Hell, isn't the entirety of modern civilization basically Lanka?)
The talent that Patel has allegedly roped in for the project is off the hook: Keanu Reeves starring as Lord Rama, Shilpa Shetty as Sita, and Kevin Costner as Ravana. Further rumours cite Drew Barrymore for the role of Lakshmana's wife Urmila. While it remains unclear who will play the title role of Hanuman in the film, the role seems to have been offered to Jackie Chan, who turned it down. Some reports that suggest that a young Chinese actor named Cheun Young has been finalized for the part.

Hanumanji in modern Times? How about a Love Story then? Bah! I'm rather more conservative.
