Optical Illusion Mediations, Animation
Allegedly your brain dominance (left vs. right) determines the direction that this lovely silhouette is spinning. I've nearly fried my brain trying to get her to switch directions. With that trick acomplished I'm going to up the anty: now try to make her kick back and forth like a rockette! I'm close, but I haven't succeed.
Here's something else to check yer head. It's been floating around the interwebs for a little while, but it's totally nutty. Basically, the squares marked A and B are the identical color:

I'm serious, here's proof.
Finally, try contemplating this, Grand Doom Illusion. Then clue me in.
Or just buy a print, from an edition of 5 total.

have you gotten her to switch directions yet? i have seen her rotate in either direction, but to actually make her switch is nearly painful.

Yes. I can get her to change directions, but it took me 5-10 minutes of effort. My pal Michael just walked over to my computer; I told him that she goes both ways, and he said, "Oh yeah, I see that!"
I've only gotten glimpses of the Rockettes effect. But now that I've been hanging out at Radio City (attending HH Dalai Lama's teachings) maybe I'll have special Rockettes siddhis.

concerning the twirling woman: it's a letting happen not a willing.

i was watching with a friend. i saw it going left and she saw it going right. i haven't been able to make it change by 'letting it happen' or by 'will'. but i have seen it go in different direction at various check-in times. i've been using it like a mood ring.

So if I cross my eyes slightly and look below the animation at some words, then notice the arm, I can see it go to the left. But it takes concentration, or actually I have to let go of the animation like that person said and focus on something else then it can switch. At first I could only see it go right no matter what I did, and even now, right is the default direction. But I saw it go left, and then I wondered if my brain felt different while it was switched. I actually panicked a bit. I suppose the left side is uncharted or doesn't watch animation much.

Try this: start with head tilted all the way left, as you close your eyes, start tilting head right so when you open them your head is all the way to the right. Repeat in other direction.
Doesn't work for me either, but feels as though it should for some reason.
